My Grandmother Rebecca Ellen Hooke Cobb's Quilt
This quilt was made by my grandmother ca. 1890 when she was around 28 years old. It is traditional and uses the pinwheel design. I am currently taking a course in the same design techniques 110 years after my grandmother made this very quilt.
A Binkie Blanket
Binkie blankets are quilts made by quilting organizations and given away to charitable organizations for poor children in Butte County all year long. I try to make about five or six every year. Technically, this is not quilted but rather knot-tied, another traditional method.
Sheets and Pillowcases
I enjoy the art of applique, but only when using a machine to implement decorative stitches. I ran accross a book, "Cottage Threads", which included this design and immediately proceeded on the project. Our granddaughter, Sarah, received them on her 10th birthday.
Mormor
Mormor means "grandmother" in Swedish. I obtained this design from the book "More Lap Quilting" by Georgia Bonesteel. (A joke - no one could do this on their lap!) This quilt is now gracing our bed and is queen size. For a while it was the quilt from Hell because it was so difficult to assemble and make. It took around four years to complete. Our cats love to sleep on it too. Our granddaughter Becky was experimenting with nail polish and managed to get a little on it, but fortunately, I was able to get almost all out. That did not make me a very happy camper. Since you can't read the words on the pillow, you should know that they are, "Grandmas are antique little girls.".

Indians of the Northwest
This quilt was made in 1977. At the time I belonged to The Peninsula Stitchery Guild in the San Francisco Bay Area. There were a large number of members and work was submitted twice a year. If the work was accepted, you would not see your work for six months as the work would be shown throughout the Peninsula. This work was accepted, but as I was on the hanging committee, I was able to see it at many showings. The size of this quilt is about five ft. square, and it is quite heavy so I had to build in a large dowel for support. I am still quite happy with this work.
